Bangor to Colwyn Bay

In a collaborative effort with Morgan Sindall and Network Rail, Samuel James Engineering provided help in elevating the rail infrastructure between Bangor and Colwyn Bay. This project, a key component of the CP6 Wales and Western framework, involved the deployment of a suite of Functional Supply Points (FSPs).

Transport for Wales identified a crucial need – to improve the standard of the North Wales Main Line. This required a major upgrade in terms of line speed, capacity and electrification and was essential to enable delivery of the Welsh Government’s transport objectives and to integrate with the UK Government’s Northern Powerhouse.

Samuel James Engineering developed a hybrid design which addressed the issues experienced along the Wales & Western Route. The team met the need to deliver the power requirements for the new signalling system, providing a fully scalable solution which enables enhancements for future projects.

The implementation of our bespoke FSPs resulted in a significant uptick in operational efficiency and this partnership laid the foundation for similar future projects.

A great collaborative effort, this is exactly what innovative infrastructure solutions should look like.
