Samuel James Engineering is currently working with VolkerRail to manufacture and supply products from its PowerU range, in support of the Carlisle, Warrington and Preston Signalling Power Upgrade Project, on the West Coast Main Line.
To date, Samuel James has delivered 400V switchboards to both Preston and Warrington, a 650V switchboard to Preston, along with a brand new generator. For the Carlisle site, Samuel James has delivered a unique Signalling Supply Point (SSP) housed in a specially designed building. This SSP is unique, as it contains both a traction rectifier, a UPS and generator set, something that is rarely requested.
Over August and September, Samuel James will deliver the final items to Warrington and Carlisle, which includes DITA’s for both sites and a 650V switchboard to Warrington, with all three sites expected to be fully commissioned by early October 2021.
